Samira Hosseini

Director of Writing Lab

Dr. Samira Hosseini obtained her BSc degree in Applied Physics from the University of North Tehran, Iran, and her MSc degree in Polymer Chemistry and a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She served as a postdoctoral associate at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico while holding a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA. Currently, she is Director of Writing Lab at Center for Educational Innovation at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. She also holds the position of researcher professor at School of Engineering and Sciences, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. She is the author/co-author of more than 25 scientific publications, 19 book chapters and is the inventor/co-inventor of 4 Intellectual properties. She is a member of the Mexican National Academy of Researchers (level one) and on the Editorial Board of different international journals.

Ana Sofia Cerda Kipper

Assistant Director of Writing Lab

Ana Sofia Cerda Kipper is studying Biotechnology Engineering with the concentration on bioprocesses at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico. Ana has worked as a research assistant at the Biotechnology Center within Tecnológico de Monterrey. Currently, she is the Assistant Director at Writing Lab as part of TecLabs of Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has authored two chapters in the 3rd edition of “Encyclopedia of Analytical Sciences”, a review article related to “BioMEMS in their major applications” and a conference proceeding with a major focus on technologies for improving dental education.

Patricia Vázquez -Villegas

Mentors Coordinator of Writing Lab

Dr. Vázquez obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Food Sciences Engineering in 2008 and her Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences majoring in Biotechnology in 2013 from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey, México. She made a one-year internship in 2012 at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada under the supervision of Dr. Charles A. Haynes. Between the years 2014 to 2017, Dr. Vázquez held a Postdoctoral position at Biotechnology center within Tecnológico de Monterrey. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Mentors at Writing Lab of Tecnológico de Monterrey. In her new role, Dr. Vázquez is in charge of the interactions between the Mentors and Mentees or Writing Lab. She is the author/co-author of 10 ISI indexed scientific publications, 1 book, 2 book chapters and the inventor/co-inventor of 4 intellectual properties. She is a member of the Mexican National Academy of Researchers (level one).

Dr. Mario Antonio Martinez

Mentor of Writing Lab

Dr. Mario Antonio Martinez has earned the Artium Baccalaureus from Vassar College, the Master of Arts in Teaching from Bennington College, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech University, where he was a Helen DeVitt Jones Fellowship recipient. In addition to his formal qualifications, he received specialized training in research from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso. He has taught in public elementary schools in the United States for seven years. Dr. Martinez has held appointments at the University of New Mexico, Houston Community College (as a Texas Success Initiatives coach), the Harris County Department of Education, and as a volunteer at Literacy Advance of Houston. He has written as author/co-author in the fields of mental health education, safety science education, and quantitative linguistics. His current research interests include using the R statistical language to support innovation in research methods and educational practice. Dr. Martinez has three years of experience as a private consultant, mentoring writers for publication. As a mentor, he emphasizes lean writing to aligned towards principal aims, evolving the literature review towards refined lacunae, and developing reproducible methods.
